Hi! and welcome to first Blender Tutorial from the Golden Ribbon. this tutorial is a combination of requests made from 3 persons. 1. Maximus William from Youtube requested Motion Graphics Tutorial’s 2. Tim Jones Inkscape designer on facebook requested a logo reveal and 3. Moca from facebook also requested a written basic ribbon tutorial.
In this tutorial we go over quite a few things, Node Tool, Selection Tool, Rectangle Tool, SVG into Blender Import, Mesh Manipulation and Key-framing.
Using the rectangle tool in the top left section. Click and then draw a rectangle shape on the canvas as similar to the screen-shot showed above.
Once you have created the rectangle in the first step double click the rectangle. This will activate the Node Tool. Then Navigate to the top of the page in the “Tools Control Box” Area and look for a button. the Button is named “Convert Selected Object to Path (Shift +Ctrl+C). Click that.
For these next steps we are going to prepare the nodes for the ribbon shape. Using your mouse draw a box over over the two left nodes to select both as seen in the above screen shot
The navigate to the Tools Control Box as before but this time look for a button/option named. “Insert new nodes into selected segments”. Click that. This will create a new node in the middle of the two you selected.
Repeat this step for the right most nodes as well.
Click the canvas to un-select the nodes then (While HOLDING Shift) click on the two middles nodes, one at a time. This will put both nodes under select.
Navigate to the Tools Control box selection and Click. “Show Transformation Handles For Selected Nodes”
Lastly look for the arrow next to the two middle nodes selected. Click and HOLD and drag inwards until your shape looks like a ribbon. Thanks for reading I hope this helped!
